my best friend.
the one whom i thought would be like any other ordinary aquaintance i have,
the one whose heart i never thought would be so intertwined with mine,
jokes and laughter come rolling off the tip of our tongues so naturally we’re like souls that have known each other for eternity.
we may not have hangouts so posh and fancy
but the insta-worthy amusement-park-bestie-outing can’t seem to beat
the sheer relish in conversations that can span for hours and hours
even in the simplest of settings — a cafe, the train or even the rocky grey seats outside a neighbourhood mall.

my best friend.
the one whose actions remind me of Him,
from the way she subtly reminds me to pray even when she’s unable to,
to the way she’s ever so genuine in supporting me — neither jealousy nor hatred is contained in her soft heart (masyaAllah).
when my heart is consumed with sorrow it is she who lifts it up,
with advice and words so sweet i’d forget the reason behind my sadness,
they complement my mother’s, it’s all a sign from Him
that you’re a friend to keep and till Jannah that will be.
love,
Haziqah.
